Using Social Media to Get That Job!
Social media is fast replacing all other forms of job searching. Networking – person-to-person connections and referrals are ideal – but even that is supported through the use of social media.
We’ve long been advocates of LinkedIn and have advised our young adult clients to build a profile and resume and network while IN college to get that head start on building a career.
Now LinkedIn is creating a University page specifically marketed to the younger audience, lowering the age limit to 14. Students searching for colleges and to make connections will have another vehicle to obtain information, insights, and connections. Our guess is that this platform will evolve to internships and ultimately, career opportunities.
93% of recruiters are using LinkedIn – so job hunters are wise to stay active with this social media site. LinkedIn has reached a point where it is almost unprofessional not to participate in the site. The world is moving fast… Opportunities come and go quickly, so you need to be in the game on a daily basis. USA Today reports with more information.
