A Career That Will Give You a Head Start
How many times have you asked in utter astonishment, “What were you thinking?” Of course, the question generally produces no intelligible response, leaving you just as frustrated as you were pre-inquiry. Fear not. You likely can gain the answers to these and much deeper questions with a fascinating career option known as cognitive science.
Cognitive science is a relative youngster in the world of careers. Probing deep into that most important of important organs, the brain, it focuses on how people, animals, and yes, even computers think. The field stirs together an intriguing mix of other disciplines such as neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, philosophy, and computer science.
One of the premier places to pursue a cognitive science major is the University of California, San Diego. Their top-flight program enables students to take classes from both the department itself, as well as other related departments.
Fortunately, I’ve had an opportunity to work with a young adult majoring in cognitive science at that university. As we explored the possibilities offered by a degree in this field, we discovered a surprising abundance of career options. You could, too. Check out the above link — you just might have a future in brains.
As I’ve always said, success starts with majoring in a field you love, then matching your interest with the needs of potential employers. Could Cognitive Science be the career option you’ve been seeking? It’s definitely something to think about.
And while you’re looking into it, know that our team is always on hand to answer any questions and provide additional information about post-college success and career options for college students.
