Jan Slater
Jan Slater, founder of CareerConnection.Me, is a career program developer, trainer, author, and designer of lifelong learning systems. Jan has 30 years of experience managing career programs and career centers in major organizations including Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Transamerica Life Insurance, and The Gas Company.
The CareerConection program grew out of Jan’s passion to see young adults prepared to enter a career they love and to make the investment in their education pay off for them and their parents. It is based on the year-long management training program she developed and facilitated for Chase Manhattan Bank.
Jan and her twin sister, Jane Ballback, as business partners co-authored four career development books: Managing Your Career in a Changing Workplace, Marketing Yourself and Your Career, Unlocking Your Career Potential, and Making Career Transition.
Jan’s academic credentials include a B.A. from California State University, Fullerton and a lifetime teaching credential. Jan was a public school teacher serving in elementary, junior high school, and special education. She is an active member in professional associations and is a sought-after speaker on attaining career success.
Susan DeGrassi
Susan DeGrassi is a career coach at CareerConneciton, focused on college and career planning. She is formerly the Executive Vce President, Management and Operations at Merit Property Management. In her early career she spent six years with Walt Disney Productions and discovered through Disney’s Career Planning and Placement Center the company she would then spend the next 25 years with: Merit Property Management.
During her tenure Merit grew from 18 employees to 600 in multiple offices. Susan’s leadership and managerial skills provided the foundation of Merit’s strong reputation with employees, clients, colleagues and professional associates. Susan coached and developed hundreds of staff in their career path.
Susan developed her passion for career coaching and college planning when she began guiding her own four children in the journey. She now focuses her experience and expertise in coaching other young adults in a successful journey from high school, through college, and into the work place.
Susan graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in Sociology.

Lisa Bashor
Lisa Bashor is a career coach and program developer at CareerConnection. She is also an author, executive coach, trainer, educator, and leader in dynamic organizations spanning a career of 26 years. As an executive coach for the past 20 years, Lisa assists executives who are in career change discover what they really “want to be when they grow up.” Some of Lisa’s clients include Traveler’s Insurance, Honda USA, Sempra Energy, and Union Bank.
Lisa is a nationally recognized expert in sales training and consulting. She designed and managed a career and learning center that provided services for 12,000 employees and managers, offering “rite of passage” programs for new employees, managers and executives providing them the skills to lead diverse work groups and create self-directed work teams.
Lisa has a passion for helping young people realize their potential which she has developed helping her four young adult children with their career direction. She is applying that passion and her considerable workplace development expertise as a CareerConnection coach.
She began her career as a music teacher. She did her undergraduate work at the University of Colorado in Music Performance, Theory/Composition and Music Education. Lisa also worked towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography at Art Center College of Design.
